The last remaining telescope made by Galileo!

The oldest telescope in the world is a leather-bound show piece with golden ornaments made for Cosimo II de Medici, which now is on show in Florence. This is the telescope that started modern astronomy! In the year 1609 Galileo took the Dutch invention of the telescope, perfected it, and pointed it at the night sky. His discoveries - craters on the Moon, the phases of Venus, the Jovian moons - were scientific sensations! They laid the foundation for a completely new kind of astronomy that defines our view of the world until today.

With this beautiful and historically accurate cardboard replica you can experience the great achievements of Galileo yourself. Although the performance of this historic telescope is not comparable to modern ones, it is fully functional and emphasises Galileo’s accomplishments.
